Mixing it up with Articulate Replay screencasts

It’s never been easier to create great-looking screencasts with Articulate Replay. Whether you’re an experienced designer or e-learning newbie, it’s simple to use the timelines to create a mix—that is, to switch back and forth between your webcam and screen, or a combination of the two. It adds a really professional touch to your screencasts, and it’s super easy to do. Here’s how:

Step 1: Click and drag the red playhead to the place on the timeline where you’d like to start a new mix layout.

Step 2: Click one of the mix buttons to apply a new mix layout.

Step 3: Fine-tune the start and end points for your mix layout. First, hover your mouse over one of the diagonal black lines that indicate the time boundary of the layout. Then, click and drag the start and end times to adjust them to your liking.

In a snap, you’ve created a mix! Now, here’s a bonus tip: Did you know you can add mixes in real time as your video plays?

Simply position your playhead at the beginning of the timeline and click the Play button. As the video plays, select your mixes by clicking the mix buttons, and watch as Replay dynamically applies your layouts. It’s a great way to see transition points in real time. Then, once your video’s over, you can fine-tune the start and end points on your mixes with a simple drag-and-drop on the timeline.
