Hi there Wilson - if you switch to Slide View on any quiz slide, and then right-click on an empty part of the slide, you'll see an option that says "Format Background." On the window that appears, you can change the fill color or use a gradient, picture, or texture fill. If you plan to use the same image on several quiz slides, a more efficient approach is to use a Slide Master to contain the image. Here's a tutorial that shows how to do that: community.articulate.com/.../creating-and-applying-slide-masters-in-a-quiz.aspx
I should also mention that you can always just insert an image directly onto a slide, and send it to the back so that it doesn't obscure your quiz questions or other stuff on the slide. Here's how you can add an image: community.articulate.com/.../adding-images-and-drawing-objects-in-your-quiz.aspx ...and to send it to the back, in Slide View you can select the image, choose the Format tab, and use the Arrange tools on the ribbon to choose Send To Back.
First, great template! A quick question, it seems to only support 3 answers that get smoothly transitioned in. When adding a 4th or 5th they appear before the transition and the first three answers. Would you have a pointer of what to look at to get additional answers faded in smoothly?
Hi Gary! If you add new answer choices, you can change their timing and animation by opening up Quizmaker's timeline. Here's a tutorial on customizing the timing, so that your additional answers appear after the first 3: community.articulate.com/.../controlling-layers-and-timing-of-objects-on-your-quiz-slides.aspx ...and if you'd like to also apply an animation (such as a Fade), here's how to do that: community.articulate.com/.../controlling-layers-and-timing-of-objects-on-your-quiz-slides.aspx
Jeanette,
That was exactly it! And to support your statement in the tutorial, I had no idea about the timeline feature in quizmaker! Great stuff! And my problem is solved.
Hello Jennifer - If you have more than one correct answer to your question, you'd need to go with a Multiple Response question, rather than Multiple Choice. You can add a new question by clicking Graded Question on the Quizmaker toolbar, and choose Multiple Response. Once you enter your question text and answer choices, you can click Slide View so that you can arrange and format your text to fit within the chalkboard design.
After I download one of these templates, where do I find it? In other words, how can I apply it? I was looking in the slide design, but I can't find it. Help please!!
Thanks!!!
Hey Christine - the download contains a Quizmaker '09 file... you can open it in Quizmaker and then double-click any question, and click Slide View to see or adapt the question to your needs. If you want to use the chalkboard image in a PowerPoint or Presenter project instead, you can click the Insert tab in PowerPoint and then choose Picture to insert one of the .png files onto any slide or slide master. Hope that helps! :)
Hi I'm having difficulty downloading this - for some reason it saves as an engage interaction rather than storyline... and then it fails to open. Any tips on where I'm going wrong?
Thanks!
Hi Sam! This download is actually designed for Quizmaker - so, when you extract the contents of the zip file, you should see a file with a .quiz extension, plus two graphics files with a .png extension. (Make sure you are actually extracting the contents of the download by right-clicking the downloaded zip file and choosing Extract All - rather than just double clicking the zip file to see what's in it). Also, it sounds like you want to use this download in Storyline? Although it was built for use with Quizmaker, you can use it in Storyline too. Another user was asking about this recently and I recorded a quick screencast for him: http://www.screenr.com/l0f8 Perhaps that will help you too?
Jeanette, i've downloaded the Chalkboard template, although this was successful, it did say that i already had it! How do you select it on the slide? Formatting the slide doesn't give you any option to access templates, just textured backgrounds or your own images. HELP!
Hi Stan, are you using Quizmaker? When you download the file, first unzip it by right-clicking the filename and choosing Extract All. This will create a folder and in it you'll find a quiz file, as well as 2 png files. If you are building a quiz from scratch, go ahead and open the quiz file, and you can begin building your content by customizing the quiz questions that are already in there, or creating new questions of your own and applying the slide masters. (See Tom's screencast about that here: http://www.screenr.com/fiL8) If you're instead working with an existing quiz (rather than a brand new one) and you want to apply the chalkboard design, you can do that by going to the Slide View of any question, then click View > Slide Master. Now you can modify your existing slide master(s) o... Expand
