Yup, that's the trick to "losing weight" in photos: horizontally scale the image 3%. I've slowly increased that % for years, but still find the 3% is the sweet spot.
If you scale the characters, you can use the Size options to ensure consistent sizing and proportions.
Hello! I am trying to find out if there is a way to mirror only the pose. I am looking at a character with buttons on her lapel; when I mirror the character her buttons are on the opposite side. Thanks in advance!
Right-click on her and Save as Picture. Choose .wmf
Insert into PowerPoint, and ungroup.
You may have to ungroup 10 or 12 times, but you will eventually get down to the individual elements. Move the buttons to the other side, and flip the gray line beside them horizontally.
Regroup and save as picture to be inserted into SL

Hi Sonja,
When the character is selected you have access to the design tab.
In it, you will find the Rotate button with a drop-down menu that allows you to flip horizontaly the character.
Hope it helps, have a nice day!

Yep:
btw, Welcome to the forum, Sonja!

Hi, Sonja -
Scaling a handle across the center of an object will provide a reflection of the object.
I like Colin's suggestion too
Flowers, you've done it again - neat trick! Though, my scaling attempts resulted in a rather portly guy-with-a-pointer.
Yes It's a good trick if you want to change a character's diet:)
Thanks for this super fast help!
Sunny regards from Switzerland
Gotta build 'em for a variety of audiences I s'pose.

Great tip re using the horizontal scaling handle to get a mirror, or reflection. Thanks!

Thanks, Walt! I think that may end up being more trouble than it's worth. I think I will just have her use a different pose :)
