I have tried to publish Stroyline output to Dropbox and Google Sites without success. The option to publish to Public folder is no longer available in Dropbox. I need to make sample courses available to clients to view via Dropbox/Google Sites or something similar. What are the best options for showcasing sample content?
If you've recently opened up a new DropBox account, then the Public folder is no longer a standard option. However, you can still create a public folder to publish to. https://www.dropbox.com/help/16/en
Thanks for the suggestion but this unfortunately didn't work for me. I'm assuming that after you load it to the tempshare you copy and paste the link to that on your Google site? Is that right? What am I linking to after uploading to the tempshare?
Once you load to the tempshare, you'll see a dialogue box pop up with the URL where you can access the presentation. This would be the link that you'd use.
Thank you so much! I was able to post onto my Google site using the ishare gadget but I only see the storyline player. The content that I built never loads for viewing. Looks like I'm just going to have to come up with a different solution. I appreciate your help!
anyone know ... can you use the cloud provider "Box" (not Drop Box) for playing a web-based storyline file?
i created on (see below) via Box but it is not running correctly. this is a link to the story.html file. is it possible that Box does not have a “web hosting” feature or maybe I just don’t have it turned on correctly?
I am not familiar with the Box cloud storage, but hopefully some members of the community may be able to assist. I did click on your link and received a error 404 File not found.
I had NO success in using Box to run a Storyline file (back about 6 months ago). Instead, I am using DropBox and it works great. If anyone has any other and/or new information on Box, I would love to hear about it!!
That is the most awesome, coolest, most useful thing ever!
in addition to tempshare (which is great), i have also been using scorm cloud (http://scorm.com/scorm-solved/scorm-cloud-features/) for free for a few years. one advantage over tempshare is that you can leave a course(s) there for an extended amount of time.
Hi I know this is a discussion from a while back. May I please ask if you still have to create a public folder on dropbox to share Storyline files, or is there a more recent process. I'd like to see a video tutorial detailing each step of this process. For some reason I'm flummoxed.
DropBox has changed a bit over the past few years. If you had an account prior to October 4, 2012 you automatically have a Public Folder. However, if your account was established after that date, you'll need to have a PRO or Business account to utilize DropBox for sharing your courses. So if you're a newer user (non pro or business) and you load your course to DropBox and then create a link to, say, the story.html file....it won't work. It'll simply try to download that .html file.
Personally, I'd recommend utilizing Amazon S3 to serve up your course content. I've found that it serves up course content much faster than DropBox. S3 does require a little bit more technical skill, but once you get it set up, it's a wonderful solution!
"We’re writing to let you know that we’ll be discontinuing the ability to render HTML content in-browser via shared links or Public Folder. If you're using Dropbox shared links to host HTML files for a website, the content will no longer display in-browser."
Does this mean that our ability to use Dropbox to publish eLearning modules will be going away (as of Oct 3, they said)?
Hi Paul, We heard similar this AM as well - and updated some documentation here. After pushing that out, we've also heard varying information from other team members about the timeline of this rollout, but it sounds like starting in October certain users won't be able to utilize Dropbox to host content. That article I linked too above has another recommendation though!
I had some content on my wix blog and now it has a big fat error message :( Annoying when I am showing it to potential clients. Need to get it back up ASAP so I will try the AWS solution when I get time.
Was the Wix site connected to Dropbox? Google Drive gave a bit more notice than Dropbox about discontinuing the ability to host the content there, but the AWS solution has really worked well for a number of users so I hope that's able to assist you.

Thank you, Mike, for clearing this up.
I am lucky enough to have a Public folder but I wasn't using it, thinking that all the Dropbox folders worked the same way.
Follow-up question:
I just received an email from Dropbox saying:
