E-Learning Blog Posts

Apr 14, 2014

Do you have a blog? I thought this could be a thread where we post links to new blog posts. I'm always interested to know what other people are posting!

Today, I published a post regarding an article on Contact North's site about How to Design an Innovative Course (linked to in my blog post). Check it out, and let me know what your stance on designing an innovative course entails!

As many of you here already know, I also blog about how I created the weekly challenges from David Anderson as well as many other
e-learning topics.  There's lots of good, practical, technical advice on using Storyline, PowerPoint, Cubase SX, Pinnacle Studio, Fireworks, etc as well as more abstract e-learning design and development concepts.

Here is mine. I've been bad about posting so maybe listing it here will give me some incentive to get back to it.

You could write weekly about the demos you share in the challenges

I could. It is just a matter of finding the time. I can create the demos faster than I can write about them

That's for sure. Whenever I write about my demos, I uncover issues that force me to go back and fix the demos. Later, I start writing again about the updated demo only to discover new issues. It's a vicious process. #CoffeeHelps

Hey Nancy,

Why not just do a screencast?  I see many bloggers do a video demo instead of writing about it. Some viewers my prefer that option.

I do a lot of screencasts, but they take me even longer to do because of the number of takes I need to get it right. If I were an actor I'd be fired for sure.

You don’t want to know how many tries it takes me. It doesn’t help when your hubby works in the same office LOL!

Here's my oft-neglected blog:

I use mine as (a limited) part of my sales and marketing efforts. People go there among other places to see what my thoughts and approach to the role I have are.

Blogs, (in my opinion...), are fine if you want to "vent your spleen", however, (as with a lot of the online-o-sphere...) who cares about that? That is just an ego trip, little else.

The great blogs offer something to the READER of the blog - that's why people subscribe to them.

I would ask those who posted their blogs here the reason for having their blogs in the first place. Blogging can drop down in the list of daily priorities. I use mine as a tool.

Will your blog be viewable by all soon Joshua?

It will be Nicholas, I'm working on my Storyline version of my site currently. Then it will be time to really focus on pulling some great content through. In my priorities though this has to fall behind the site establishment - as Bruce said I can use the blog to vent but am overworked currently so just trying to keep my head above water!
