#ELHToronto: How to Create a Visual Menu

Jul 10, 2014

Have you ever wanted to create a visual menu in Storyline that can be unlocked as users progress through it using simple states and variables? Articulate Superhero Nancy Woinoski walks us through this simple process using great demo files that can be downloaded here: https://workshops.articulate.com/toronto-2014/pages/home

Here are some of the questions that came up during Nancy's session:

Q: Can I access system variables (quiz results, bookmarking, etc.)?

A: Not easily, but you might be able to using the SDK.

Q: How often do you save when building in Storyline?

A: As often as possible!

Q: Can we lock a menu using only states, not variables?

A: You could possibly use a initial state of hidden or disabled, and then change the state.

For the individual who asked Nancy how often she saves in Storyline, Rachel Barnum has a fantastic solution for autosaving in Storyline:

It'll honestly save you a lot of heart ache when you've been working on a project for 12 hours straight and you're on the cusp of crying onto your keyboard.
