Try the link that I posted later in the "hand crossing off list" thread. I posted them somewhere else hoping that fixes the download issue. If you still have a problem, please let me know.
Tracy, thanks for this! I used the effect to make it appear that a hand is writing notes on a page. It's really quite effective. I hope you don't mind that I used your hand image -- internal use only; we don't sell training!
Great. I'm glad you were able to use this. Feel free to continue to do so. One of the features of this community that has always amazed me is the generosity and willingness to help one another. I strive to live up to that as much as I can.
Sunny, here's my version of Tracy's file. When you play it in slide show, you'll notice the moves are "on click" due to a known problem in Articulate (per the online doc). This is in PPT 2003. I hope it helps!
So I have a couple of questions about this type of animation design. I tried this same type of animation with making a hand write in words on a chalk board. I was able to create it, but i could not find the custom motion path in powerpoint 2010, so that was a bummer. However i can't seem to be able to do this in storyline. The animations are very limited in storyline and when i made it in powerpoint and then tried to import it to storyline, the animations did not follow. Any thoughts?
I'm sorry, but currently Storyline doesn't have an equivalent to PowerPoint's motion path. If you need to show an object moving along a very specific custom path, what some folks do is create the effect in PowerPoint and save the slide as a movie, then insert that movie into your Storyline slide. Check out Stephanie's explanation here. And also, please consider submitting a feature request for additional animation options if motion paths are important to you - it's really helpful to our dev team to hear what folks value. Thanks!
Okay I will do that, and I was also thinking, adding to Tony's idea. How would i make that hand crossing lines out through "Links" be an interaction? I was thinking on having people hit the hyper links, but when they finish the scene it would be brought back to the menu slide and then have the hand cross out the area they just visited. Is this possible?
Can you provide the Storyline "source" files for this tutorial example?
Sure! Attached below is the story file so that you can deconstruct if you like. Since the hand graphic isn't mine to share (but is available for purchase at elearningart.com) I substituted the picture you see in the screencast with a comp from Fotolia. Also, since the font is probably not one that you have on your system, I substituted the textboxes with graphics; otherwise things probably wouldn't look right when you open the story file. If you'd like the font I originally used in my screencast, it's available free here.

Yes, definitely possible! Attached below is one way you could accomplish Tony's idea. Each menu item is covered with a hotspot which takes the learner to a different section. Once they hit the "Back" button on each section, it takes them back to the menu slide where the hand crosses the item off.

Cool, Tracy! I ♥ the coffee stain. Thanks also for sharing the source files!
Wonderful!
Great! Thanks for sharing.
I tried downloading the files and it says it's not found :(
Same here. Can't access the files. :0(
Same here
Wow. So sorry for that. I tried it out a few times and the links seemed to be okay.
Here is a different location that I've uploaded them too instead. Hope this works for you.

I loved the screener, but the link comes up as "File not Found." Am I missing something? Thanks!

Wonderful! I've tried this before but couldn't quite get it right. I'm inspired to give it another go!

P.S. Tracy, thanks for lending a hand.........

Hi Chris! Great question! Here's an example of the hand-crossing-off effect in Storyline:
View published example
And here's a tutorial that shows how to do it:
A really nice example Jeanette.
This would make a nice menu which shows the user which areas of a package they have visited.
TC
That is outstanding thanks. Now do you have any idea on how to make the hand move in a custom path on storyline to make it look like its writing text?
