This week’s challenge was around e-learning games. We shared a quick idea for creating your own e-learning games. Based on the success of this week’s challenge, I expect we’ll do a lot more around this topic.

Thanks to everyone who shared demos or feedback in this week's challenge. I know the e-learning community appreciates seeing what you come up with each week.

Remember: The challenges are always open. You can jump into this or any previous challenge anytime and we'll update the recap post to include your work.

Thanks, Jackie. That German drinking game remains a cult favorite in the world of elearning game examples. One of the best conclusion screens ever!
  • Lovely reference for people. Good selection of games here - something that is going to be more prevalent in 2015.

You know it, Josh! The games take longer to build but they're clearly a favorite for challengers. What other kinds of games should we look at? Industry-specific games?

OK, after what seems like hundreds of hours of work, I finally finished my redo of Keith Freeman's Hub and Spoke game for our purposes. The published version is at

    http://openbibleministries.com/03hsbapgame.php.

I know it took me so long because I was learning as I was working. I would get stuck and then have to research how to get out of the predicament. But it all came together! Yea!

I moved the background and feedback slides to the masters. That really helped. But other things I didn't know yet kept me working on each individual slide. Now I REALLY know what Tom keeps talking about in his blog posts when he says use the master if it affects multiple slides! Excellent advice!!

I took out the Java Script triggers since I don't know how to do the leader board, etc. But it still seems to work fine. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

I added the Avatars to each question slide, and added hover over hints using markers on some question slides.

      Congratulations, John!

I think it turned out great! Keith did a great job with his original game but it's fair to say this is not a beginner's project.

Thanks for sharing your version of the project. I just updated the recap (this page) to include your demo!

        Thanks David,

From a beginner I have to say...no it's not a beginner's project. I really bit off a lot! But I'm glad I did it. I learned a LOT! Thanks for posting it. :)

I'm a bit late to the party I know, but here is my creation. I have made an electronic version of the board game snakes and ladders. I have posted a forum thread with some background documentation to how I made the game here https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/my-first-game-snakes-and-ladders

the URL to the game is: http://prescript-dev.co.uk/storyline/snakes-and-ladders/story_html5.html

There isnt any specific 'learning' content written in to the game, but this model could be taken to introduce and elements of elearning into it.
