During a recent training webinar, someone described the e-learning challenges as a "giant campfire for e-learning designers. A place where people gather to share ideas, tell stories, and learn from each other, minus the mosquitoes."
Maybe someday we’ll all get to sit around a real campfire together. Until then, the online version gives us plenty of opportunities to practice our e-learning skills, exchange ideas, and connect with one another along the way.
E-Learning Icebreakers
If you’ve spent any time in the corporate world, you’ve probably played Two Truths and a Lie at least once.
It’s one of those classic icebreaker games where each person shares two true statements and one false one. The challenge for everyone else is figuring out which statement is the lie. It's a fun way to kick off a class or workshop and help everyone get to know one another.
Games like Two Truths and a Lie work because they immediately pull people into the experience. That same idea applies to e-learning, where a strong opening hook can spark curiosity and make learners want to keep going.
Two Truths and a Lie with Joanna
I like the newspaper design concept Joanna used for her example. Using existing photos, Joanna created a bulletin board with three news articles. Check out her e-learning example to learn which two stories are true and which one’s a lie.
🏆 Challenge of the Week
This week, your e-learning challenge is to show how icebreaker games like Two Truths and a Lie can be used to create engaging course introductions and learner hooks.
✨ Share Your E-Learning Work
You put in the effort, now make sure your work gets seen:
- Blog it: Post your example in the recap hub and tell us how you tackled the challenge. With the new submission format, you can comment directly on each example. Try leaving helpful feedback on at least three projects this week.
- Share it: Please share your examples on LinkedIn and mention both David & Articulate using the #ElearningChallenge tags so we can help promote your work.
- Discuss it: Feel free to cross-post in the forums to give your work even more visibility.
