Online Training for Restaurant Servers & Waiters #561

Professional restaurant waiters make the job look easy.

They greet guests. They answer questions about the menu. The remember special requests. And most importantly, great waiters handle problems without letting the rest of their tables fall behind.

But professional waiters don't learn to do all that by memorizing a list of rules. They learn by working through real situations and making decisions in the moment. And that's what this week's challenge is all about!

🏆 Challenge of the Week

This week, your challenge is to create a short training experience that gives new servers that kind of practice. Focus on one practical skill, a challenging guest interaction, or the complete dining experience from greeting the table to presenting the check.

🚀 Tips for Getting Started

Here’s how you can approach this week’s challenge at the level that works best for you:

  • Start simple: Create an interactive checklist that walks a new server through the steps of greeting a table, taking an order, or closing a check.
  • Level up: Build a scenario that asks learners to choose the best response during a guest interaction and provides feedback for each decision.
  • Challenge mode: Simulate a busy restaurant shift where learners manage several tables, prioritize competing requests, and respond to unexpected problems.

🙌 Share Your E-Learning Work

You put in the effort. Now make sure your work gets seen:

  • Personal blog: If you have a blog, please write about your example from this week’s challenge and share the link with your submission.
  • Social media: Please share your examples on LinkedIn and mention both David & Articulate using the #ElearningChallenge tags so we can help promote your work.
  • Support your peers: Try leaving helpful feedback on at least three projects this week.
  • Community forums: Feel free to cross-post in the forums to give your work even more visibility.
