Alt Text for Software Demo Training
When you've inserted a few slides in a Storyline course using the screen recorder to record a brief software demo, how do you add appropriate alt text?
The narration consists of a person saying "I'll demonstrate how to...", and the narration uses all of the Button names and Field names from the software application that a screen reader would hear when they use the software. Is alt text not needed, as long as the narration and written transcript (in the notes panel) fully describe what is happening on the screen? Thanks!
The video's alt text should be a short description of what the video contains ("Demonstrates how to use the XYZ software, including ..."). It should be less than 150 characters and contain punctuation. It does not need to have extensive details but should give the user a general description about what the video shows. The video itself should have closed captioning (either open or closed) in addition to the transcript.
