Adding buttons/custom background to engage

Aug 15, 2011

First off, I'll try to tell you what I am trying to achieve.

I want to make a photo gallery using the Articulate Engage 'community interaction' - carousel (link: http://www.articulate.com/blog/download-3-new-engage-09-community-interactions/). Now I have photos from several different locations so I want to use create a main slide within PowerPoint to act as the 'main menu', which will have several buttons linking to separate galleries (in this case it would be separate instances of the carousel interaction. The problem is, I cannot seem to find out how to include buttons that overlap the engage slide once I insert it into PowerPoint. The best I can do is the built in 'next slide' button, but I dont want to go to the next slide, I want to go back to the 'main menu'.

Are there any work arounds to get past this and accomplish my goal?

Secondly, I was wondering if there is anyway to create a custom background on engage interactions. I currently have a solid blue colour, but I am looking for ways to add a custom abstract background I created in photoshop. Is it possible to include?

Any help is appreciated.

Kind regards,

Ian

Hi Ian

you can automatically branch back to your menu slide using slide properties,  using properties on your engage interaction you can also rename the button to something like "back to menu".

The background can be made transparent (not sure if you can do this in carousel) by using colours and chossing the background and setting transparency to 100%

You can then get the slide master to show through and add your image to the slide masters, you may have to keep selectuing the layout each time you edit the interaction

ALso to get the master visible you will need to allow the slide master to show through, I think this is under resentation properties on the articulate menu

hope this helps

Phil
