I had this problem on my old laptop which thankfully my office recently upgraded for me.
The only suggestion I can make is adding more RAM, which boosted my performance somewhat. It will make a difference and is relatively cheap in this day an age. I would go for a good named brand rather than a cheap as chips stick and get as much RAM into the laptop as possible (ie: as much as your hardware and software will support).
