Basic Stuff

Jul 21, 2011

I recently took over a one-person training department that has purchased the Articulate product but no one (me) seems to know how to use it.  With this being said, please pardon my ignorance with the following question:

After creating a process presentation in Articulate and publishing it as a slide within PowerPoint, when I view the PowerPoint as a slide show, the Articulate presentation is simply an image.  In other words, the articulate presentation gets inserted as a slide into the PowerPoint but when the presentation is viewed, the slide is not interactive.  Is there a way to publish the presentation in PowerPoint and when viewed by staff (or more specifically, my boss) via PowerPoint this self-proclaimed masterpiece I created shows up in PowerPoint in all of its interactive glory.

Hi Matt

If I understand your question correctly yo uhave created a flash interaction in Engage, which you have brought into Powerpoint/Presenter. When you view your slides as a normal presentation/slide show, it is only showing the content that is in powerpoint. the interaction you have made with engage actually sits outside of that, and is pulled together when you publish your file. Clicking on the Articulate tab on the ribbon in Powerpoint will show you the publish options. I wuld suggest having a look through some of the tutorials available which will help you become an Articulate wizz in no time

Unless somebody knows something I don't (which happens all the time!), the answer is no.  You need to publish the Articulate presentation, and have everyone launch the player.html (or launcher.html) file to play the presentation.  That will be necessary for them to review all the 'Articulate' features in the PPT.

You can also publish the Engage process interaction standalone, and have them view that published file if that's all they're needing to review of the presentation.  I usually find it's better to let them review it in the final Articulate template -- especially if I'm using the left navigation, presenter panel, etc.  That way it looks the same every time they see it.
