Creating a Tabs Interaction where users will only view one tab

Jun 19, 2012

Does anyone have any suggestions on creating a Tabs Interaction where users will only view the content of one tab before moving to the next slide in the presentation?

The problem is that the there are 11 tabs and the presentation is set with 'Restricted' navigation and  a minimum of 5 seconds per slide - which correlates to 55 seconds for this interaction. The seekbar advances only to the point correlatiing to the interaction selected. For instance, if the user clicks on the 2nd tab the scroll bar goes to 10 seconds and then continues to 15 seconds and stops. The scroll bar has to go to 55 seconds for the user to advance to the next slide with 'Restricted' navigation. Using 'Free' navigation is not option. Also, setting it to 1 second per slide also does not resolve the issue.

Any ideas?

Hi Jacob,

if I understand correctly, you want users to be able to leave the interaction after viewing just one tab?

If so, you can change the interaction properties to be able to leave the interaction 'at any time'. This doesn't force them to have to view one tab (not quite what you want) but it also doesn't force them to have to view EVERY tab. Changing the interaction properties onyl affects that interaction, not navigation around the entire course.

I also always set the slide properties to advance 'by user' rather than 'automatically' when I create interactions. That way, the slide doesn't suddenly advance before the user's had a chance to read all the info.

Is this what you meant?

Cheers,

Sarah.
