Engage Files Not working in Course on the Web

Jan 22, 2013

Hi,

I am having an issue with Engage files not working in courses on the web.  When I view the courses on my desk top they are fine, when I send to my co-workers to view via dropbox, they work fine.  The issue happens when we upload or FTP the courses to Akamai for net storage.  In Akamai, you are able to run the courses and test to ensure they work .  The course is in Presenter with Engage interactions embedded.  Everything works on all of the courses except for the Engage interactions.

Has anyone ever had this issue and could it be due to the way that Akamai handles the media content causing the links to be broken?

Thanks.

Hi L Keith,

I'm afraid I haven't used Akamai, so I'm not sure how their service supports that type of content. Where do you intend on hosting the content when you distribute your course? If you'd like to share the Engage interactions .INTR file here, I can try to put it into a presentation and upload it to our servers for testing.

Thanks!

L Keith

Hi Christine,

The content is inside of a Presenter file that will be hosted on a website. Unfortunately, I can't post the interaction, but I can email it.  To give a little more detail how we FTP.  We upload zipped files using a descriptive name and date with no spaces. Then we piece together three pieces of content to fomulate the URL that is used for the download.  Once the url is together it has 125 characters including spaces.  I am not sure if this is causing issues as well.

Hi L,

I believe, and I may be wrong, if the URL was the issue, it would be something that would impact the entire course. Now, the interaction name, that may be a different story. If there are any additional spaces or special characters (underscores, etc.) it may be causing a problem.

The best way to test it would be to put it on the web server itself. I honestly don't know how the testing host works, as I've never used it.

I won't be able to receive the file by email. However, you're welcome to send it to us privately by submitting a support case. You should be able to attach the file to the second page of the form. Also, if you'd like us to test the entire project, please include a Presenter Package.

Thanks!
