Insertrd Video but can't hear the audio

Aug 17, 2011

I have inserted a FLV video into engage. When I play it outside engage I can hear the audio. When I click on edit properties and preview the thumbnail I hear the audio but when I preview or publish it there is no audio. Can someone please help, this is my first video.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Marg,

You may find that audio does not play for some videos in an Engage ’09 interaction if both of the following criteria are true:

    * The videos are in MP4 or FLV file format.

    * There are more than 8 videos in the interaction.

Please review the following article for more information and a solution:

I imported sounds for each of  10 animations on one slide. I hear the sounds on PowePoint but when I preview or publish it from Presenter, I see the animations but hear no sound. I went through my training book and every online tutorial I could findbut still can't figure how to fix it. I've spend ours to do this one slide, and aI'm n under a really tight deliverable date. Please HELP!!!

Hi Tracie,

First thing I would can to check is the location of the presentation files. Are the audio files and presentation files on your local hard drive? Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate). Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you've confirmed the content is all local, but you're still unable to hear the audio, can you tell me what method you're using to import the audio into Presenter/PowerPoint? Also, what file types are the audio files?

Thanks!

Christine

Wow, I keep my files on an external/portable drive (my computer is full). It's a project I've been working for 5 months, so I REALLY hope that I can fix this.

I use PowerPoint 2010

Articulate Suite '09

CS6 PremierPro

The file path is long...

H:\CCALAC Root\ICS Training\ICS Training\PowerPoints\CCALAC Modules\ENTIRE TRAINING

I haven't used audio files for Presenter '09, just video clips. The videos play, but I can't hear them. They play on the PowerPoint preview, but not on Presenter; either preview or publsh (tried for web, LMS, I can't remember if I tried CD or not.

I've been exporting video to H 264 (for iPad 2 and iPhone 4s) and FLV.

CS6 PremierPro can export these file types:

· Animated GIF (Windows only)

· FLV, F4V

· H.264 (AAC, 3GP, MP4, M4V, MPA (audio), AMR (audio), WAV (PCM audio))

· H.264 Blu-ray (M4V, WAV (PCM audio))

· MPEG-2 (MPA, M2V, MPG, M2T, WAV (PCM audio))

· MPEG-2 DVD (M2V, MPG, MPA (audio), WAV (PCM audio))

· MPEG-2 Blu-ray (M2V, M2T, WAV)

· MPEG-4 (3GP, MP4, M4V, AAC (audio), AMR (audio))

· P2 (MXF)

· QuickTime movie (MOV)

· Windows Media (WMV)

· Video for Windows (AVI, AVI (uncompressed)

  • Bitmap (BMP; Windows only)
  • DPX
  • GIF (Windows only)
  • JPEG
  • PNG
  • Targa (TGA)
  • TIFF (TIF)
  • Audio Interchange File Format (AIFF)
  • MP3
  • Waveform Audio (WAV)
  • Advanced Audio Coding (AAC Audio)

· AAF (Advanced Authoring Format)

· BMP (Windows Bitmap; Windows only)

· DPX

· EDL (edit decision list)

· JPEG

· OMF (Open Media Format)

· PNG

· TGA (Targa)

· TIFF

· XML (Final Cut Pro XML)

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Tracie,

It's a little hard to say, since you're not able to relocate the files (I totally understand about hard drive space, though, I tend to keep mine pretty full, too!). Are you able to try sharing a Presenter Package or one of the video files with us in a support case? We'll be able to take a closer look to see what's going on with the sound for the videos.

Thanks!

Christine

Good morning Tracie. I hope you had a great weekend!

I just wanted to take a minute to check in with you on the support case that you submitted. I took a look this morning and I see that Sid sent you an email asking for more details. Have you received this message? If not, please try to check your spam folders or filters with your email address. You may also want to make sure that support@articulate.com is set as a safe sender.

If the issue still exists, please respond to Sid, so he can continue working with you. If you cannot find the email, just let me know and I can try sending it to you again.

Thanks!

Hi Tracie,

I checked this morning, actually and it looks like quite a few of us tried to send the email again. Any chance we can try sending it to a different email address? If you have another one you'd like us to try, you're welcome to send it to me in a private message. I'll make a note to the case and try to send it to that new address.

Thanks!
