Labeled Graphic Interaction Not Advancing

Jun 18, 2014

Hi,

I have two Engage issues I need help with:

1. I have several Engage Labeled Graphic interactions not working properly. After clicking all the markers, the Next Slide button appears at the top of the interaction. However, the Presenter Play button remains in the Pause state (it doesn't change to the Play state with button pulsing). If I click the next/back arrows at the top of the Engage interaction enough times, the Play button usually will activate and I can advance. But I also need the Play button to become active after the user clicks all the markers.

I have tried the following:

- Revising the autoplayduration property in the XML files to ".1".

- reloading Articulate Studio.

Other types of Engage interactions in this same training are working fine, as far as being able to advance while clicking the Play button at bottom of the Presenter interface.

2. When I click the next button at the bottom (in the Presenter interface) before a slide has loaded or before I clicked all items on the slide, a window pops up with no text in it and an OK button. I believe the text should say something like "You must click all items on the screen before advancing." This issue is happening with all slides in my training - both regular PPT slides and Engage interactions.

I am using Articulate Studio '09 and running Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 (version 6.1 with Service Pack 1) on Windows 7. I am running Flash Player version 13,0,0,206.

Appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hi David,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

A couple of things:

What version of Studio '09 are you currently running? To find this through Presenter '09, click on Help and support >> About Articulate Presenter

If you're not running Update 10 (6.3.1402.0316), you may want to download the update from here and install it.

How are you viewing your project when these issues occur? Are you previewing, or have you already published? If this only happens when viewing the project in a specific way, this would be good to know.

If you're publishing and seeing this in the output, are you viewing the published project locally or after you've updated to a web server or LMS? If you're uploading, which web browser are you using to test - and have you tried other browsers?

If you could provide those details, we'll see if we can find out what's causing the issue.

Thanks!

Christine

Christine,

I downloaded the update, and having the same issue (#1 in my initial email).

I am publishing the project locally, as LMS output, to my desktop. I have not tried publishing to LMS and testing.

When I view in Preview mode, the Presenter Play button remains in the Pause state on Labeled Graphic interaction after clicking all markers. However, when I click Next Slide button that appears after clicking all markers, I can advance (where I can't advance by clicking Next Slide after clicking all markers when viewing published output; I get a message saying "You may only viewed slides you have already viewed"). After publishing, I've waited up to several minutes for the Play button to become active on Labeled Graphic, just to be clear I am not clicking too quickly after clicking all markers.

I am using Internet Explorer 9 (version 9.0.8112.16421). I only have access to this browser, and can't test in another browser.

Hi David,

It might be best to upload the content to a web server or LMS for testing. If you view a published Studio '13 or '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the article below for more information:

Tips for Managing Project Files

  • I suggest using SCORM Cloud for your course - it's a great place to test SCORM content.
  • Another option would be to use our Tempshare server. Just keep in mind that this server is only available for testing content - it is not officially supported by Articulate and all content will be removed automatically after 10 days.
  • You're always welcome to try out Articulate Online, as well - it's available for a free 30 day trial.

If you upload to a server (LMS or Web) and still see the same issues, please share an Articulate Package here. Please keep in mind, however, that the forums only allow attachments up to 20MB. If your file is larger than that, please let me know.

Thanks!
