Relinking Engage Modules

Jul 08, 2011

I've been producing several large e-learning courses using Engage and Quizmaker. No matter how I package the interactions with the working file they disable themselves and become unlinked. Every time I need to make an edit, I have to open the file, relink it, make the edit, and save it back to the presenter. My presentation is over 140 slides long and in order to republish the presentation (even if I only made one change to one interaction) I must relink every slide.

I keep the files in the same folder with the presenter and never move them in or out in hopes to not break the links.

One other side note: When I click "Slide Properties" or "Engage Interaction" all of the interactions show up as part of the presentation - so I know in someway it's recognizing they are there.

Does anyone know an easy way to do a global relink on these so I do not have to click, find, and relink all of them every time?

Thanks in advance.

This time I pulled it off a network onto my C: drive and they became disabled. But in the past, I have been working straight from C: and they seem to disable themselves.

Is there a global way to reconnect all of them with out locating each file individually? (they are all in the same folder with the presenter)

Hi Katie. Presenter uses absolute paths to maintain the connection between your interaction and quiz files and your presentation. I would make sure you are always working on your C: drive and not renaming the PowerPoint file. Here's a good tutorial on maintaining proper directory structure for your presentations:

Unfortunately, once your files become disconnected you do need to reconnect them. Just make sure that your quizzes, interactions, PPT and PPTA file are all hanging out in the same folder on your C: drive prior to reconnecting the files.
