I successfully followed your steps. Although, I was left with a grey header (with the title) and a grey footer. I didn't see that in your example. How do you take the header/footer off when publishing the PPT with Articulate?

Not out of the box, I believe James Kingsley has a widget he can sell you over at elearning enhanced that does eaxctly this

@John - Here's a way you can remove the black bar. The trick is to insert Engage as a .swf object instead of an Engage interaction.

Also, it appears this great trick doesn't work if you add animations in the PPT.

Regarding animations in PP, they work FYI.
