"Save and Return to Presenter" button not available from Engage

Jun 20, 2013

I just got Office 2010 installed on my computer and the "Save and return to presenter" button is not appearing in Engage - is there a workaround for this?  I am getting an "unhandled exception message ...object reference not set to an instance of an object" if I try saving and closing.

Thanks!

Karen

Hi there Karen!

What version of Office 2010 did you install? Please make sure that you're running the 32-bit installation and not the 64-bit or a click-to-run version.

Microsoft released a 32-bit and a 64-bit version of Office 2010. Microsoft recommends installing the 32-bit version, and Articulate Presenter '09 will only work with the 32-bit version. Presenter '09 also will not work with the Click To Run version of PowerPoint 2010. For more information, please review the following article:

Which version of Office 2010 should I install, 32-bit or 64-bit?

Hi Karen,

Great, thanks for confirming.

Please also make sure you're working with local project files:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If the issue continues, please try following the steps outlined here:

Let me know if you see any improvement.

Thanks again, Karen!
