Saving Articulate Files

Mar 01, 2013

When publishing something in Articulate that includes an engage interaction or quiz the quizzes and engage interactions are being saved to my desktop instead of my Articulate folder on my C: drive. I have played around for a while and cannot figure out how to get them to save to my C: drive. Does anyone know how I can get the files to automatically save to my Articulate folder on my C: drive?

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Noel!

Is sounds like you're creating a Presenter presentation with Engage interactions and Quizmaker quizzes, but the interactions and quizzes aren't saving in the same folder as your presentations.

Usually, the content will save to a folder similar to the one shown below:

C:\Users\Christine\Documents\My Articulate Projects

Please note: The path may vary, depending on your operating system.

What method are you using for publishing? If you're using Web, LMS, CD, or Word, you should be able to specify the location for the output files:

If that doesn't change the destination fold for you, can you open one of the Engage interactions through Engage alone? Once you've done so, try using the "Save As" function and see where the program is trying to save the interaction. You can save a new instance of the file in the same directory as your presentation files, if you'd like, then add the new version to Presenter.

If this still isn't working, please make sure you're publishing from a local file.

1.  Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.

2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).

3.  Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.
