Speech Bubbles in Engage
Apr 28, 2011
Hi all
I'm new to designing e-learning at the moment I producing a very simple telephone skills session. I'm able to use voice over as the session will be used around the world and, as yet, we don't have the facilities to re-record all the voice over. So I've come up with the idea of using cartoon characters and speech bubbles to take them through the text, along with quizzes and games.
Now for my question...
I know how to use the cartoon and character in PowerPoint and set timings to reveal the next speech bubble but I'd like to have it so that they click on a button when they are ready to read the next one. Can I do this in Engage or is it better done in PowerPoint, and either way, how do I do this?
Any help or comments would be gr gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance

Hi Stephanie
You could do it as a labeled graphic, with each label being a speech bubble, or add pictures with text into a media tour or process

Hi Phil
Thanks for your answer. I can see the markers to add the text but I can't see how to change this from a dial to a speech bubble. Could you tell me how I insert a speech bubble?
Many thanks,
Stephanie
Hi Stephanie
You really cant add a speech bubble, but I thought you could use the labels as makeshift speech bubbles so as they click next each label would open over the cartoon character

I like Phil's idea of using a labeled graphic. Here's something along those lines that maybe you could adapt. It came from this blog post.
That'll be why I couldn't find it. Thanks Jeanette, that's similar to what I've done.
Also, is there anyway of fading a point that has been made whilst showing a new point?
Currently there isn't way to alter the appearance of the visited items in Engage. That would make a great feature request though.
