Tabbed Image Template

Nov 11, 2013

Hi All,

When using the above mentioned template, it appears that although you can click on "next" to advance to the next step, the corresponding embedded tabs at the top of the template only advances to 10? So the only way I can see of being able to identify which tab is currently selected is by duplicating the numbers in the text field below.

It may be a setting somewhere that I have missed. If so, this should be set to default as the current setting makes no sense at all. The point of the numbered steps is so that:

a) The user can see which step they are on/advanced to.

b) They have the ability to click on the step they want to go directly to.

Having to manually input the numbered steps in the text field and then have the user keep on clicking the "back" or "next" button to achieve the above is neither practical or logical.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and know of a working solution? Your help would be appreciated.

Regards

Hi Leslie,

Thank you for your reply.

Yes I have tried that. However, aesthetically for the way I would want it to appear, it is not that pleasing to the eye. Standard image sizes will not make use of the screens real estate unless you have a panorama image which utilises the space to both the left and the right..

Also, there are instances whereby I will use 2 images in one tab. Although inserted images can be enlarged by using the "zoom" feature, the position and size of this looks out of place.

I have inserted a screenshot of the tabbed image template. The areas highlighted in red represent the unused space that has not been utilised due to the design.

In regards to the first layout mentioned, Is it  not possible to add a "scroll" feature for the numbered tabs so that it progress automatically with the user?

Hi Jamie! Would it be an option for you to build this in PowerPoint? It would be pretty easy recreate the look and feel of this same Engage interaction and give you much more design flexibility. It would be more work but the trade-off here is between speed/ease of use and the ability to break free of the form to design it just as you like.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your reply and support.

To be honest, it is not about flexibility over the design but more in regards to the amount of space that could be put to good use if the template offered more flexibility. To me, the template attached above is not pleasing to the eye due to the amount of abandoned space that is not editable and I would struggle to include this in my training because it doesn't look great. This is my opinion of course and it may suit others.

The template above has the ability to be very powerful if the design was changed aesthetically and had more editable regions.

Hi Leslie

Is there any way to stretch the tabbed image so it is the same height as the text panel?

I know you can change the percentage settings which makes the image bigger but if I do this then the text panel decreases in width.

Maybe I have to edit my actual image first outside of engage.

Also do you have to have a tabbed image, I noticed there is no option to not have one.

Much thanks

Alex
