09 Legacy Projects, LMS Preview Videos and other issues with "13"

Oct 06, 2013

I am so disappointed that I cannot import Studio 9 projects into Studio 13 and update accordingly or "Can" I?

I have a number of modules that have been held back for the 13 release due to HTML5 and Mobile output. Nov 1 is our launch date and I have 10 Studio 9 units completed and reviewed by legal. I support medical device manufacturers and I hesitate to submit the updated versions. My goal is to re-submit 1 LMS module for approval with the caveat that all others will look the same.

Also having an issue with Video quality. 09 was very solid and the compression used was more than acceptable if not downright perfect. All my Presenter Lecture modules have full motion video in the presenter window on the upper left to increase viewer engagement in lieu of a static still image. The video in Review mode is very good but when moving to Publish it really falls apart.

Also having an issue with video in a series of Bumper Intros. The video has professional narration and animated text on screen, again looking to keep eyeballs sticky here. In Preview all works flawlessly but in Publish the audio is barely audible and again I just do not get this after the Preview works so well.

All and any input provided is appreciated from Staff and all other High End users.

Sincerely,

Gordon MacPherson

Hi Gordon, I am not sure what you mean by "import Studio 09 projects into Studio 13"    All you should have to do is open your existing studio 09 presentation using the Studio 13.

There are a few  features that do not work in html5  ( alpha channels on videos, elapsed and total times on quizzes, audio playlist etc.) so you may have to do makes some changes in your existing courses to optimize them for html5. Here is a link to the Articulate support site that compares html5, Flash and iPad output.

Hi Gordon,

I know that we were talking about the audio issue over here as well, so in case anyone is following along in both threads.

As Nancy mentioned, the process of opening the Studio 09 files into Studio 13 should work normally and provide the "upgrade" file message. Since you're having some difficulty with the audio we're happy to look at your files further.

Thanks Nancy for sharing that link as well!
