1) "Mobile-friendly" 2) Upgrade to '13 from '09 without losing work?
Mar 24, 2017
Hi,
I'm hoping someone can shed light on two probably pretty newbie questions. I created a bunch of courses in Presenter '09, then stepped away for quite awhile to focus on other things. Now I'm back to creating new courses, but it seems the user landscape has changed a great deal.
I remember back in the Presenter '09 era it was difficult and ultimately "not worth it" to try to fashion SCORM-courses into being truly mobile-ready/friendly; which was okay because even 'til a couple years ago that wasn't a primary user demand. Also, there was sort of a half-baked workaround that if I'm recalling correctly seemed to entail the users installing some additional software, but that appeared very problematic based on feedback from the Articulate forums of the time. So, we just told our users that while they could certainly passively view some of the course content on their phones/iPads, etc., they really wouldn't benefit from any interactivity (quizzes, Engage) unless they were using their PCs/desktop/laptops.
Now everything must be mobile. So, my questions:
1) With an upgrade to Studio '13/or 360, will I be able to create SCORM content that is truly mobile-friendly, with no 'conversion' or middle-ware needed? All interactions, quizzes, Engage, etc. will be able to run properly on any device?
2) Will the content, including original PPT 2010 files, 'work' in the Studio '13 authoring environment? Do I have to be concerned about massive do-overs?
Our LMS provider responded that both situations "totally depend on the course creation software."
Any feedback or info from the Articulate side would be much appreciated. Thank you! - Brandon

Good Morning Brandon, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!
The short answer is Yes and Yes! Here's the long answer:
Good luck with your project!
Hi Justin, thank you for the quick response.
I have licenses for both Presenter '09/Studio '13 but am still using PowerPoint 2010. If I migrate over to 360, can I continue working in PPT 2010 (not upgrade to '13), and will my Articulate files originally created in Presenter '09 'port over' as well?
Thanks!
Hey again, Brandon.
Again, yes and yes. Studio 360 supports PowerPoint 2010 (32-bit or 64-bit), and the process for upgrading a Presenter '09 to Presenter 360 is the same regardless of your PowerPoint version.
