All graphics disappearing

Oct 18, 2011

We have been using Articulate to publish our courses for 4 years, and have been using Articulate 9 for 2-3 years.  Suddenly when we publish courses (we even tested courses that had previously published perfectly) every image in the course has disappeared, included simple graphic shapes from Power point.  This is also happening on multiple PCs with multiple files.  We are publishing locally.

Thank you!

Hi Natasha and welcome to Heroes!

Depending on your version of PowerPoint, try the below solutions if the images in your Presenter '09 presentation do not appear in the published output:

POWERPOINT 2007:
1) Click the round Microsoft Office button in the upper left corner of the PowerPoint window.
2) Select PowerPoint Options.
3) Select the Advanced tab from the left pane.
4) Scroll to the bottom of the details pane, and click the Web Options button.
5) Select the Browsers tab.
6) Select the check box for "Allow PNG as a graphics format".
7) Deselect the check box for "Rely on VML for displaying graphics in browsers".
8) Click the OK button twice to save your changes.
9) Republish your presentation.

POWERPOINT 2002 / 2003:
1) Navigate to Tools > Options.
2) Select the General tab.
3) Click the Web Options button.
4) Select the Browsers tab.
5) Select the check box for "Allow PNG as a graphics format".
6) Deselect the check box for "Rely on VML for displaying graphics in browsers".
7) Click the OK button twice to save your changes.
8) Republish your presentation.

POWERPOINT 2000:
1) Navigate to Tools > Options.
2) Select the General tab.
3) Click the Web Options button.
4) Select the Pictures tab.
5) Deselect the check box for "Rely on VML for displaying graphics in browsers".
6) Select the check box for "Allow PNG as an output format".
7) Click the OK button twice to save your changes.
8) Republish your presentation.
Good luck, and please let me know if this resolves your issue. Thanks!

Hi Natasha,

Be sure the PowerPoint file is located on your local drive and that you're publishing it to your local drive and not a network drive. Create a Presenter package here: http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter09/?p=457 then try this:

  1. Create two folders. C:\Articulate and C:\Articulate Publish.
  2. Copy the zip file you created to the new directory C:Articulate.
  3. Quit PowerPoint.
  4. Unzip the file by right clicking it and selecting Extract. Follow the steps outlined here. This will create a new folder that contains your PowerPoint file.
  5. Open the PowerPoint file from the new folder that is created.
  6. Publish it to C:\Articulate Publish

Let me know if that helps...

I have been publishing exclusively from my C: drive and have had no issues.

I followed the steps above and the file still published with no graphics.

I have tried multiple files, several of which I have copied because they previously published with no issues.

In every case there are two problems:

1.  No graphics are visible, including colored text boxes created within powerpoint.  I use only jpgs for inserted photos and graphics and have never had an issue before.

2.  When I publish a quiz to the ppt file the slide does not list in the final dialogue box so I am unable to finalize the settings.  Oddly the quiz appears as a slide in the ppt but I am not able to adjust settings or go to the quiz from the ppt, so Quizmaker and Presenter do not seem to be connecting properly.

These issues are consistently occurring on every single file I work with.

We have tried repairing both Office and Articulate multiple times and have completely uninstalled and reinstalled both programs multiple times during the last couple of days.  We did use the file to cleanse the registry after uninstalling Articulate We also uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Flashplayer 11.

Help!

Hi Natasha,

Apologies for the issues you're running into. If you'd like us to take a close look at it, we'd be happy to do so. Please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter09/?p=457

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:

http://upload.articulate.com

In the description please include the number(s) of the slides that contain your particular issue(s). Please be as detailed as possible with your description.

We will attempt to diagnose what's happening when we receive your upload.
Thanks!

I do not think that sending you a file will help.

I have done extensive testing on this end.  I have published and republished multiple files, most of which previously published perfectly on my laptop.  I have had a coworker test publish files that do not publish correctly on my laptop and they publish correctly for her and do not have any of the issues that I have experienced consistently.  Even when I copy a file from our Share that has previously published correctly, I experience exactly the same issues.

It might be more helpful for you to send me a test file that you know publishes correctly and then I will publish and send to you.

Again, I have several issues:

Unable to preview any slide.

Quiz does not publish to Presenter correclty.

All graphics are gone from the published file.

These issues persist despite uninstalling and reinstalling both Office and Articulate.
