Is it possible to animate objects and text via mouse click? It seems to work fine in ppt but not when published. I've searched the forums using "animate" and "mouse click" without much success.
On mouse click animations without set timings display after __ seconds: This determines the number of seconds between animations that are set to occur On Click. It defaults to five seconds, but you can change it. Check out this tutorial for further explanation.
In my layers I am adding animations so the layer wipes right to open and should wipe left to close when the user wants it to close. The timeline takes over (I have extended it), I need the timeline to have no part and for the animation to work when the user clicks to close.
Any suggestions? I have read all the other responses and haven't found anything that works so far.
"There isn't a way to make an object or a layer "animate when the user clicks". Does this mean, "yet," or is there no way to program this into SL? Just curious, because it would make a great suggestion for a future update.
Do you want an object to animate when you click it? If so, I'd suggest adding a layer, and add a copy of the object with the animation to the layer. Then trigger the object to open the layer when the user clicks it.

Yes of course you can do same in PPT. To do that don't keep slide animation effect to the PPT. By mouse dragging or click you can animate

Hi there Lori!
I've seen folks achieve this by creating duplicate layers, and then applying the exit animation on the duplicate layer.
Check out this quick sample file I put together for you to see it in action!
So the issue really is having multiple animations on the same objects on the same layer? That is why the timeline is taking over?
Your example is exactly what I am trying to do.
That's right, Lori. There isn't a way to make an object or a layer "animate when the user clicks". That's why it's helpful to use duplicate layers.
Let me know if you have any questions about that sample file I sent you!
Hi Alyssa,

Hey Brian! The same is still true.
Do you want an object to animate when you click it? If so, I'd suggest adding a layer, and add a copy of the object with the animation to the layer. Then trigger the object to open the layer when the user clicks it.
Let me know if that's what you had in mind!
Hi there,
after reading your replies, i am still very confused on making the PPT animationsappear on the slide.
I only want the next animation appear on the screen when clicking the "next" button in the player of Articulate Presenter.
How can this be done?
Thanks
Silke
Hi, Silke.
I'm not aware of a way to connect an animation to a player button (Previous/Next) in Presenter.
If you can import your Powerpoint file into Storyline, then you should be able to accomplish what you're looking to do, using triggers:
I hope this helps!
