Annotations disappearing???
Jun 23, 2011
Hello,
I'm having a very strange issue with a published file. I publish the course, preview it, go to a slide series where I know there are some annotations and they work like a charm. All is well.
I close the browser tab. Open the course directory, create a .zip file of the course and upload the file to the LMS (Moodle). This is an edit to an existing SCORM package, so I go into the SCORM package, select Update or Edit this SCORM package, "choose" my newly uploaded and beautiful course, and Save and Display.
Here's the magic trick. I navigate to the slide series where I know I just saw my annotations and THEY"RE GONE! In all of the slides?
Please help, I look forward to any assistance on resolving this issue and my client loves these annotations.
Best,
Alex S.

How odd. So do the annotations play when the course is run locally and disapper when viewed on the LMS? After publishing, do you still see them in your Articulate files if you preview?
You can find your annotations in the code of the presentation.xml as well. If you open the file in a text editor, you should be able to do a search on the phrase "<annotations>" which should help you navigate to something like this for each annotation:
<annotations>
<annotation type="lightbox" xpos="365.5" ypos="323.375" width="253.5" height="93.75" color="0xFF6600" alpha="50" show="23500" hide="31300" bordercolor="0xFFFFFF" borderalpha="100" animationtype="draw" loopcount="1" boxradius="5" borderwidth="2"/>
</annotations>
If you can't find this in the presentation.xml file, the annotation never published. If it's in the code and you still can't see it...uhhh...well, maybe see if it's there first...
Hi Alex,
Can you try completely uninstalling and reinstalling Flash to see if that resolves the issue?
Uninstall your current version of the Flash Player. Follow the steps here:

Download the latest version of Flash:

I am having a similar problem. I added the annotations and saved them. However, when I go into presenter and do a preview of the slides, the annotations do not appear. This is only a trial version so that may be a part of my problem. Have have a deliverable due this morning and I'm in a real crunch.
Welcome to Heroes, Pam!
I'd first recommend making sure your Flash player is completely up to date. And if you continue to experience issues after that, please feel free to send us your files so we can take a closer look. If you'd like to do that, please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:
Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help
Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:
Articulate Support - Upload Your Files for Review
Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09, which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so I can follow up with you personally in the forums. And feel free to come back and leave your case number here so I can keep a close eye on it. Thanks!
This is the same problem I am having! All of my slides have narration. Some of my slides have animations or videos. Some of my slides have annotations. Some of my slides have both. I can view everything while in the preview section of the Articulate ribbon. When I try to insert the presentation into my elearning project all of the narration and animations show up, but the annotations do not. I was thinking that it may be because the box in the annotations tab "show annotation tools" box cannot be checked like the narration and animation "boxes" can be. Please help me!!
Hi Jen and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! Can you check out the troubleshooting within this thread and see if this may help you? Particularly the part about the frame rate. Also, let's be sure that you are adding annotations according to these directions.
