I am getting ready to upgrade and install studio 13 on three computers. Are there any issues I need to be aware of when opening studio 9 courses in studio 13?
Hello Eric, just to add a cautionary note, keep in mind that you cannot have both '09 and '13 on the same machine -- and it may be a good idea to have a machine that retains the '09 version.
Why? Suppose that you have an existing course that is made up of 20 Presenter '09 modules, and you find that you need to make an edit in one of those modules. Since the '13 player is quite different than '09, you'll end up with that edited module standing out like a sore thumb.
If you don't have the ability to make that edit in the '09 version, then you'd have to upgrade the other 19 modules to make things match.
Upgrading the other 19 modules may not be a big deal; I've found that the automatic conversion is pretty clean. On the other hand, if you have any Learning Games in use, you'll have to replace them with something else. If you make reference to clicking the "flashing forward button" to navigate, you'll have to make content changes so that things make sense.
The point is that there may be instances where '09 is the preferred tool, and if so you either need a separate machine on hand for that, or be prepared to do installs and un-installs to switch Presenter versions.
