Articulate 09 and sumTotal 7.6

Jan 19, 2012

Hi,

I have been trying to get a course created with Articulate 09 and uploaded to sumTotal 7.6 to work in IE, Firefox and Chrome. It works in IE fine but not the other 2 browsers. I have used both success criteria: number of slides viewed or quiz score requirements in IE 7. The status returns as Completed. When I go through the same module in FIrefox 8 or Chrome 16 the status comes back as Incomplete.

I have tried so many fixes that I have found on disussion boards and the article "9 Ways to Troubleshoot Articulate & LMS Issues” and ... I have taken to learning everything I can about SCORM.

Is anyone able to make their Articulate Pesenter 09 course run properly in sumTotal in IE, Firefox and Chrome? I really want to use Articulate to design the courses.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi DG, and welcome to Heroes!

Articulate software really shouldn't be having any issues running on through those two browsers. Have you asked your LMS team about it? You may have already seen this, but I found an earlier thread discussing a similar issue. Have a look to see if anything stands out to you:

Looks like he resolved his issue by upgrading to 8.0, but like I said, there aren't any known issues with 7.6.

I believe this is a SumTotal issue, not Articlate (yay). See this URL from Articulate.

We have a client that recently acquired SumTotal as their LMS. Suddenly the courses we had published for years were no longer functioning properly in the SumTotal LMS. We used a combination of the info from the above URL and a document from SumTotal to generate the correct code. Note: we have to manually apply the code to the imsmanifest.xml file EVERY TIME we publish for SumTotal (SCORM 1.2).

At this point we have not needed to publish anything from Storyline that needs to be uploaded to a SumTotal LMS.

We do not have direct access to our client’s SumTotal LMS location. We figured out how to implement SumTotal’s instructions re: Articulate Presenter for SCORM but have no way of verifying externally (no access permissions). We have just been fortunate to have determined how to correctly revise coding in the imsmanifest.xml files. Additionally, we were able to apply SCORM coding for Articulate Presenter to Flash-based packages with success, so perhaps the same changes would apply for Storyline.

Odd about “cannot be uploaded…” message. If you are still experiencing issues, SumTotal should provide you with directions for Storyline. Good luck.

If you only use SumTotal LMS and scorm 1.2, you can 'hard code' the suppress sumtotal player manifest file in the scorm_1_2 folder on your hard drive. That way you don't have to manually edit the file each time you publish.
