Articulate and Other Mobile Devices - Compatiblity

Jan 22, 2012

Hi All

I have created some elearning courses, using the following components:
1. Videos
2. Play, pause, next, forward buttons
3. Key Terms
4. Attachment
5. Exit

These are the only components my course have.

I know for a fact that iphones and other Apple products doesnt support Articulate products, for which we have created a HTML 5 shell.

I want to have a comprehensive list of mobile devices that is compatible with Articulate. I am also interested that if I happen to upload my course on my server and provide a link to the users, will they be able to open in their build-in browers.

Can someone please provide me with a list? Do Articulate courses work fine with all Android devices both tablets and mobiles? How about Blackkerry?

Also, do buttons like Attachements, Keyterms (engage interaction), and exit work perfectly fine or as intended in Articulate?

I look forward for your response.

Thanks

Regards
Sam

Hey Sam!

You can publish your Presenter ‘09 presentations for viewing on mobile devices that support Flash Lite 3.  The installation of Presenter ‘09 includes a file called mobile-player.swf, which is required for viewing your presentation on Flash Lite 3 mobile devices.  Please review the following article for instructions:

http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter09/kb/?p=237

For mobile devices that support Flash (Android devices), you only need to publish your content for Web.  The mobile-player.swf referenced above is not necessary for Flash-enabled devices.  Then upload the published content to a Web server, and view the content in your mobile browser as you would from a desktop or laptop computer.  Here are some examples of Articulate content running on Android devices:

Also, you may be able to use the following HTML5 player to view your Articulate content on non-Flash devices, such as the iPad.  Please note that this method was not developed by Articulate and is not supported by Articulate:

If your Articulate content does not include interactive elements (such as quizzes or user-initiated navigation), you can record your Articulate content as it plays, using a screencasting tool like Screenr (http://screenr.com), to capture a video of your Articulate content.  Screenr screencasts can be viewed on iPads and iPhones directly from the Screenr website.  There are also options to publish your Screenr screencasts to YouTube and to download MP4 versions of your screencasts, both of which also play on non-Flash devices like the iPad.

So, where can I find this mobile-player.swf

THis is not in the folder I published.

Also, I am trying to test this link via mobile. The downloading option doesnt seem to work and also, the hyperlinks that I have given for the HOME button.

Can someone help me with this?

Hey Sam,

I'd recommend sending us your files so that our support engineers can take a closer look and work with you to find a solution for the issues you're describing. Please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:

Articulate Support - Upload Your Files for Review

Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09, which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so I can follow up with you personally in the forums. Thanks!
