Articulate Presentations sticking

Jun 13, 2013

Hi,

I keep getting reports from faculty and students about presentations 'sticking'.  The stuck slide is inconsistent (not always the same one).  This is happening in many different presentations and with different browsers.  Most are simple audio over PowerPoint (no animations).  We initially thought Chrome was the culprit, but it just occurred in Safari.  Browser and Flashplayer are up-to-date.

When the slide is stuck, the buttons to advance or go back are inoperable.  Navigation using the outline slide titles seem to work, as well as refreshing the browser window.

These are zipped presentations deployed to an LMS (Blackboard).

Any assistance is appreciated,

Vicki

Welcome to the community, Vicki!

Sounds like the issue is pretty random, correct? Are the users reporting this issue viewing the presentation multiple times, or does this happen for users that are viewing the presentation for the first time?

If they're viewing the project multiple times, it might help to clear their browser cache.

Also, it sounds like you're able to reproduce this on your end, but I'm not entirely clear if that's the case. If you can, are you able to try testing the project on a different server/host?

It might help to test the project on SCORM Cloud or Tempshare, just to see if the issue might be related to the LMS.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks and welcome again Vicki :)

Hi Christine,

I have been able to reproduce this on my end.  It happened for me on first view, but I'm also checking with faculty to see if it is occurring after multiple views.

When trying to upload the presentation to Tempshare, I received the error: "Sorry, we were unable to publish this file".  It's 8mb.

Hi Vicki,

Thanks for getting back to me!

If you'd like, you're welcome to share the project with us. We'd be happy to take a look and see if we see the same thing on our end.

Please create an Articulate Presenter package by following the steps in the following article:

Hi there.  Was there ever a cause or resolution found for this reported issue?

We have a subset of users that are running into something that sounds very, very similar.  Random pages in a course appearing to lock up or stick and users not being able to advance past that page.  Browser doesn't seem to matter as I have been given screenshots in Chrome, IE8, and IE9.  Seems to happen more on slides that have a QuizMaker object on them, but has happened on other slides.  Users returning to the course after exiting are still stuck at the same page.  The page loads the nav bar and a blank content frame with 0:00 as the slide time when this occurs.

I have not been able to reproduce the issue nor have any of our support people and it seems to only being happening to users in specific work groups in one or two of our many offices (no other group is reporting issues).  The issue almost seems to be consistent with a network timeout happening in the background preventing files related to the next slide from loading properly but I have not been able to confirm.  But I saw this post and it sounds similar enough to ask.
