Articulate Specifications / Output files

Jun 01, 2011

Hey guys,

Loving the new site! Vast improvement.

I wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction of some standard documentation about Articulate presenter. I'm not after the presenter documentation, but rather the output module package technical requirements.

A common question I get asked is what does the module need to run on a web server.

My usual response is that the module is build of Flash,JavaScript, HTML CSS etc but some times there are other questions which I cannot answer regarding the files and the way the modules work.

Is there a more extensive list of technologies required to run the module, other than that a user needs a browser with flash, what the user must have on their machine etc, is ActiveX used. Basically something more in-depth than:  http://www.articulate.com/products/presenter-systemrequirements.php

Hi Alan and welcome to Heroes,

From the viewing perspective, they just have these requirements:

Viewing Content

Flash Player 6.0.79 or later (http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash) (Flash Player 7 or later recommended), and one of the following browsers:

  • Windows: Internet Explorer 6 and later, Firefox 1.x and later, Safari 3 and later, Google Chrome, Opera 9.5 and later
  • Macintosh: Safari 3 and later, Firefox 1.x and later, Google Chrome
  • Linux: Firefox 1.x and later

Hi Alan,

The Flash content is published in ActionScript 2 targeting Flash Player 6.0.79.  The player.html hosts the SWF files.  Although Articulate only publishes to the SWF format, your inserted media may include FLV's and MP4's as well.  All audio that you import into Presenter is embedded into the slide SWF files.  If you're using attachments, then your published output may also contain PDF's, Office documents and more (depending upon the files that you imported).

Is that what you're looking for?
