Yes, you are correct that we posted the preview for Studio '12 a few months back - the same day we released Storyline, in fact, to assure existing Studio customers and fans that Studio development is alive and well.
May I ask why you decided to purchase Captivate vs. waiting for Studio '12 (or buying Storyline)?
Did you consider Storyline? Lots of our customers prefer an all-in-one authoring tool like Storyline (vs. PowerPoint-based authoring like in Studio), which also includes features like screen recording and software simulation. If you're open to sticking with Articulate products (and have the option to return Captivate), I'd encourage you to give Storyline a shot - we have a free 30-day trial.
