Articulate Studio 13: Change View

Dec 05, 2013

I'm converting a course from 09 to 13 and I can't figure out out to assign a view to certain slides. It used to be in slide properties. I also can't figure out how to add the change view option on the player.

Please guys, I'm converting an '09 program to '13 and it's no picnic. Virtually no information. The forum mixes '09, '13 and Storyline. It's not easy to filter through to get answers. I used to RAVE over Articulates Forum and how I could get answers in minutes. Everything online now seems to be geared towards sales and not to those of us whose been using your products for years.

Have you removed the optional views (Standard, Slide ONLY and NO SIDE BAR) capabilities for '13? If not, can this be added to the player and how can I assign a specific view to a specific slide?

Okay thank you. It is disappointing that Articulate chose to downgrade options opposed to enhancing the product. I am going to have to go into my programs and change their introductions. Everyone of them start in NO SIDE BAR view and then opens up the menu when the objectives are discussed.

Another question: I also lost the slide number found in the slider bar (ex. Slide 1 of 36). I do not like my menu to have numbers, but the slide number in the olde slider bar was useful for the user to direct people to a certain spot in the program. Has that been removed or am I missing it?

There is no slide only view unless you maker the player transparent. If you have a logo you cannot switch off the sidebar ever, you should be able to switch off the sidebar on a slide basis if you do not have a sidebar this should be on slide properties

I agree with Phil and Greg. I'd like to be able to turn the sidebar off even if there is a logo there! Love the product, so let's fix this!

Sorry Greg I think this one has gone as well

Phil and Scott, thank you so much for these answers. Is there a list anywhere where I can find this information out? I would like to know what Articulate Pro '13 can not do that '09. Seriously, I am spending so much time trying to figure this out.I will eventually get used to the functionality and forget about the old capabilities, but this is taking so much time. Does Articulate offer any personal forum for discussions like these? Is there a list of things that have changes (please not more sales "training" emphasizing how wonderful the new tool is).

Do you offer individualized training that we can pay for that will shorten the learning curve? Anything?

Hi there Greg!

Thanks to everyone that chimed in on this discussion :)

Correct - View modes—Standard, No sidebar, and Slide only—are no longer supported. However, you can customize which player features appear on each slide in your course. For example, you can display the course menu on some slides and remove it from others. See Managing Slide Properties to learn how.

Also, we do have a chart that shows the difference between the two products, but keep in mind that not every feature is included.

The following table compares the features of Articulate Studio '09 and Articulate Studio '13:

Also, the Studio '13 tutorials are an excellent place to start. They're easy to follow and may help tackle the learning curve for you.

Also, yes :) There are training classes available:

I hope this helps!

Have a great Friday, everyone :)
