Good morning!

@Mel:

Thanks for your interest in the beta!

@Joanna:

We don't have a release date for Studio '13, just yet. We are keeping an eye on this, though and we'll be sure to update this thread, as well as the Word of Mouth blog when we have new information. If you haven't already, you may want to subscribe to the blog and this thread.

Thanks!

Hi Peter,

My PPT files have different fonts ( mixed Traditional Chinese and Times New Roman in text box) in each slide, when files were published by presenter, the errors were always shown in preview mode and LMS (moodle).

A method shows above problem which can be solved by changing the different fonts in each slid into the font Arial MS Unicode, but it is burdensome when a PPT file has more than one slide master. My colleagues also keep complaining about this shortcomings.

Articulate Quizmaker '13 can import file with a format as  Articulate Studio '13 Preview announced

which will be a great improvement.

Presenter '09 with font problem can be solved in Presenter '13 hopefully.

Thanks!

Terry

Peter,

We use Articulate 09 for everything......we need Presenter 13 "now" to upgrade all our elearns to HTML5 for iOS Devices. We have already started using Storyline and like that.

Is there any way I can take a Presenter 09 elearn files and import to Storyline so I can republish now in HTML5? Would I need to do a lot of work reformatting and  checking everything? We have about 3,000 elearn modules in 09 to convert

Hi Peter,

Do we know yet when Studio 13 will be released?  I have seen others in this thread who are able to beta test, although my company will not allow us to be beta testers.  I would like to advise my leaders when the upgrade to Studio 13 will be available.  Please share the release date (or approximation timeline).

Thanks much!

Gail

Hi Nick,

In essence, you could. However, importing PowerPoint content into Storyline is not an exact one-to-one conversion. As a result, text may look a bit different. And although most features in PowerPoint and Articulate Presenter are supported in Storyline, some are not.

Here's more information on that:

Things to consider when importing PowerPoint into Storyline

Also, keep in mind that we currently only support iPads for mobile viewing. Other devices are not currently supported.

Another resource you may want to keep handy is the following chart. You'll be able to see what features are supported in all of the output types available for Storyline.

Comparing Storyline's Flash, HTML5, and Articulate Mobile Player output

I hope this information helps!

I find unbelievable a software company can be so behind the eight ball with updates.

This delay is very frustrating as 20% of my market are Apple users, and increasing by the day.

Releasing Quizmaker first  is not much use if students cannot even do the lessons in the first place.

Can you do us the courtesy of confirming the upgrade to Presenter is coming in the next 1 month, 3 months, 6 months?

Hi Mark. Welcome to the community!

We don't have an official release date, just yet. However, I did want to share a little update.

We recently finished beta for Engage and Quizmaker. We'll be working on beta for Presenter, so that's two down and one to go. We are getting closer! :)

We'll try to keep this thread updated for everyone.

Thanks very much and welcome again!

Any news on the release date for Studio '14?  It would be great to have some information...

Have we moved on from Studio ’13 to calling it Studio '14?  J   I hope not......

I will chime in with everyone here and BEG for the release of Studio '13 - the sooner the better.

Like many others, I am experiencing great delay in content publication as the demand for iOS content increases and my only option is to use Storyline.  I am a Presenter "whiz" and have much content already published, and an established, not to mention, successful, methodology for getting content from my SMEs through Microsoft PowerPoint, a tool familiar to my SMEs.

PowerPoint is not just the content collection vehicle; my company delivers content in myriad ways, including PowerPoint, formal e-Learning through an LMS, YouTube, podcasts, etc.....  The PowerPoint document is the HEART of what we do because of its versatility and familiar user interface; almost everything we do starts with a PowerPoint.

Storyline is a great program....  when developing content from scratch.  Not so much when rapid e-Learning is the goal.  Granted, there is a newbie factor, but it took me at least 10x as long to create a simple module in Storyline as it would have to create in Presenter!  But I needed HTML5 for our sales force that have all been deployed with iPads.

I have read other sections of the forums in which members are asking "It sounds like Storyline and Studio are going to have the same feature set, why do we need (or have to pay for) both?"  The answer is apparent from all of the requests being made:  depending on your unique workflow process, it is important to have BOTH tools.

Studio works great for me - I have mastered the quirks; I know which PPT animations will work and which will not, I can manipulate files, import audio from my preferred recording program and make quick edits on the fly from within the program, sync narration, animations and annotations with ease and publish content to my LMS, YouTube, and other venues of consumption while providing potential "in person" trainers with a complete script and study notes along with a polished PowerPoint.

By basing our content on the "master" PowerPoint, our messaging remains clear and consistent, republishing in all formats when changes are needed.  Can't reverse engineer from Storyline to get a PowerPoint....  that, in itself, is reason enough for my team to develop in Studio.  I am even creating a process map and a best practices document for content development from PPT, just in case I get the services of an intern this summer.

I am glad to hear that the beta testing of Presenter '13 is imminent and that things are moving forward.  I have submitted my name for beta testing and hope to get a glimpse of the program soon.

Please, please, please add me to the beta tester list.  Like the above poster, I have built my business around PPT and articulate presenter.  My customers are mainly physicians and hospitals who are clamoring to view my content on their iOS devices.  If Presenter 13 does not allow this functionality soon, I will have to abandon this platform and look elsewhere for rapid authoring tools.  I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS!!!

Curt Zilbersher

Hi Peter. I see in your response that your customers are mainly physicians and hospitals. I'm currently not taking on additional work but have been contacted by a recruiter who's currently looking for someone for a position that may align with your skills and experience. If interested, please let me know and I'll pass your contact info to her. My email is: curt@bostonlearningsolutions.com

@Janet

I hear you - I do. We are working as quickly as possible, but with the same breath, we need to make sure that everything functions properly before we can release the software update/upgrades. There's a lot of work going on behind the scenes to ensure that the products are fully operational. It's really an exciting process, but one that needs to be handled carefully. It wouldn't benefit our customers, or the company if we released an incomplete product.

Also, I did want to let you know that we are not calling this Studio '14. As far as I know, the plans to push forward and release it this year are still in place. However, if this happens to change we will certainly update this thread with that information. With the progress I've seen so far, I don't believe that will be the case.

@Peter

Thanks for your interest in the beta!

@Christine

We keep getting "I hear your frustration" about the release of Studio '13, but you're STILL not even able to give us an approximate release date of Q3 or Q4 even and now the answer is "As far as I know, the plans to push forward and release it this year are still in place."  So your loyal customers are just supposed to wait and cross our fingers that the release will still be in 2013?!?  I'm sorry, but that is LUDICROUS.  We all have customers and staff that are rapidly moving towards tablets and it's not only iOS that doesn't support Flash, but now new Android tablets do not either.  Yes, Storyline is an alternative, but as Janet mentioned, "PowerPoint document is the HEART of what we do because of its versatility and familiar user interface; almost everything we do starts with a PowerPoint."  This is true for most businesses and you said yourself that "importing PowerPoint content into Storyline is not an exact one-to-one conversion".  Well....it's not even close.  The death of Flash has been on the radar for years now and Articulate made a HUGE mistake in putting so many resources into developing a new "ground up" development platform with Storyline BEFORE updating Studio to export into HTML5. Just by reading this thread alone, I don't think that's an inaccurate statement at all.

With that said, the least you can do for loyal customers putting off very big business decisions is to at the very LEAST give us a REAL estimate on when we can expect the release of Studio '13 (Q3,Q4, Q1-2014, etc..)  As a developer myself, you can't tell me you're going into beta without any glide path for bug fixes and estimates on how long those should take.  Thank you.

Justin Wilcox

Hi Rob.

We are definitely releasing Studio '13 this year. That is what we are focused on in the current beta program. We cannot provide you with a specific quarter, though and I am sorry if that is not satisfactory for you. If you would like me to put you in touch with a member of our Sales team who can go over purchasing options with you, I will be more than happy to do so. All purchases of Studio '09 right now will receive a free upgrade to '13.
