Hi Asaf,

No problem - and we're happy to answer. New questions get posted regularly, so you'll see this question in the threads with new posts regularly, so your best bet is the Word of Mouth BlogTwitter, and Facebook as Leslie mentioned.

Also, it's likely not something we'll keep quiet, so you'll certain hear about it!

Hi Steve,

All the new features that have been announced are available here. I haven't heard about particular things not being supported anymore, so I wouldn't want to speculate about custom skins. You can always submit it as a feature request here just to keep our development team updated about what you need.

Hi Articulate - so, just picking up on the posts in this thread about whether Studio '13 (once Studio '12 of course) will in fact be Studio '14. Is the delay because you're trying to push Storyline and get a return on the investment in developing that product before releasing Studio '13. Is this because of what looks like significant feature overlap, and if so, is the delay also because you're working on exciting new features for Studio '13 that differentiate it beyond what Storyline (which looks like your gold standard product at the moment) offers.

I've been looking forward to upgrading from Studio '09 to Studio '13 (e.g. for features like html5 publishing), but given the delay, I'm faced with the either buying Storyline now (and I'm not keen on doing that as what's the point in having both Storyline and Studio '09/'13?), or turning to competitor products. I'm a big Articulate fan and I'd prefer not to do that - I love how user-friendly your products are, you've got this great and supportive user community, your training pages/videos are fantastic, and it's great to see you developing your products. All of this has helped me introduce e-learning to the company I work for, but we're talking about a huge delay here and you're leaving people wondering... and hopefully not wandering

Cheers,

Martin

Hi Martin, I hear exactly where you are coming from. I too would like to know what kind of timescales we're looking at for launch.

Understandably development of products like these are often challenging and fraught affairs. I do think however it would be helpful to know rough parametres on when Studio'13 is likely to be launched. We just have to understand that it isn't going to be an absolute. I bet Articulate are busting a gut to get it launched after so much waiting!

Considering the substantial base of users and beta testers that Articulate have I do think sharing this information on release timelines would be worthwhile.

From a business point of view I for one have to keep an eye on alternative instructional design solutions that are already in the market place.

Martin, if you're an avid user of Engage then Storyline won't be a massive help. If you want simulations, then that's a different story. There are some key differences but I presume you've trialled Storyline?

I am keeping my fingers crossed for '13 by end of November! I will have to update all my modules at that time because the tax forms change yearly. Have considered Storyline but really do not want to make a switch.

Looked at the features for '13 and it looks AWESOME!

I am trying to be patient. '-)

Love Articulate and understand this upgrade is a big one. Go, team, go!

I'm also waiting for Articulate 13. Some of our computers cannot use Flash and as our health & safety training should be available to everyone I find I'm coming under pressure to provide a solution. I haven't tried Storyline but I'd rather stay with Presenter than have to completely re-write everything.

Studio 12 became Studio 13 and, as Martin says, may yet become Studio 14. However I'd rather it was 14 than a 13 full of bugs so I'm holding out.

I plan to retire in 5 years so please don't make it morph into Studio 18 :0)

I understand providing the great product part but it sure does seem that this product has been left behind for a while. It appears all the effort went to Storyline. Once that was released you decided, ok now I guess we need to update our other studio as well.

I am frustrated because I have a 75 hour course about to be released and we are waiting on new version. It does make me wonder if there is more than just one programmer working on this. Being promised in 12 and then 13 and now maybe even 14 is driving us nuts. Please announce a deadline for release so we can make realistic business decisions on how we need to proceed.

Thanks.

Hi Jeff, and welcome to Heroes.

I certainly understand and empathize with your frustration, but our team has been working diligently on it to make it the best possible and try to get any kinks worked out before it launches. We're currently in the midst of beta testing, and I've heard good feedback so far, but I don't have a release date to share with the community yet. Once we do, we'll be certain to let everyone know ASAP.

I too appreciate the semi update, but I really am getting tired of dumbing down my product so I can can use 09.  Office 13, Office 10 and even 07 have some great tools that either don't work, are not supported or require special work arounds.  Many of these items like the Disappear animation not working correctly, I think would have been a quick bug fix vice suggesting work arounds.  It's apparent these bugs are going to be addressed in the new release, but in the mean time, we suffer.

I love Articulate I really do.  But as it is right now, I'm starting to wonder if it's time to find a new product to accomplish the task.  Is Studio even in future plans or is the idea to shift completely to Storyline?

Doug Morrow

This is all so ridiculous. I'm beyond caring about the hard work it takes for your company to build and test a product. I work for a software company that builds solutions for enterprises. If we handled our upgrades like this, we'd be out of business, plus you're behind the technology 8 ball by not supporting current technologies and deployment platforms so we can support our users. Story line is not the answer, unless you're dropping Studio. Honestly, I won't buy Storyline as a stop gap measure to get me through until you're able to deliver a stable Studio  '13. It's an underhanded way to boost revenue in light of a late release. Really how many sales are you losing due to this?

In short, stop making excuses, and deliver results! I don't even know if you'll keep this post around as some might consider it abuse, but you have to move beyond just understanding our frustration, to satisfy your customers and your commitments.

Thanks for the update, Arlyn.

We have a customer who wants to have all of the Quizmaker functionality, and to publish to HTML5.

So far we used SL, and in thelast meeting thay said the next batch would be in about 2 months, but they were willing to wait a bit for Studio '13 in order to get the full functionality they want.
