Hyperlinking to a file isn't officially supported. The best and most secure option is to upload the file to a web server, then hyperlink to its URL. That being said, here's an unsupported method for hyperlinking to a local file.
I've been using this unsupported method for years, never had a problem except that it's a pain to have to manually upload it to the proper directly on the LMS server. Some of the other limitations are irritating (like no longer supporting custom "shows" like they used to)... but overall this works. It would be wonderful to be able to actually preview pdf documents as we're building the courses... I have nearly 100 courses and it's a real pain to have to follow the process of uploading to the server, loading the courses and then seeing which ones do or don't work.
Anyway, it'd be nice if Articulate had this on their wishlist/Radar, it seems like embedding and previewing pdf's is a pretty fundamental function that would be useful to more users than just the two of us. Thanks!
