Attachment not opening; tries to access Player instead of Data?

Jan 30, 2014

When I created a course last year (on my old laptop), the training evaluation attachment opened as it should.

Now, when I click on the attachment link in the e-learning browser, Windows Explorer opens and shows all the files in the Player subfolder.  Within Windows Explorer, I can navigate up a level and over to the Data subfolder, click on the Downloads subfolder, see the Word document attachment that I'm seeking, and open the document.

Interestingly, a second Windows Explorer box also opens simultaneously at the location of player\attach.html. No files are in this second location.

I've rebooted my laptop and republished the course several times, but I get the same result. I don't yet see any posts for this particular problem. I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks very much for your suggestion, Leslie.

I deleted and re-uploaded the attachment yesterday and again today (several times each day), but I still get the same result.

I upload the attachment.

After publishing, I can see the attached evaluation form that I want to open.

But, when I click on the attachment, it still does not open.  Instead, I see a) an open dialog box of Player files and b) a new blank browser.

I'm still perplexed.  It seems that clicking the attachment should cause the browser to go look in the data downloads folder.  Instead it goes to look in the player file.

The attachment opened just fine last year. The only change I can think of is that my laptop was replaced last fall after the course was finished.  I am using Presenter '09 and Intenet Explorer 8. I'm not sure if the issue might be related to using a newer, different laptop. For attachments, I have tried various files including .docx, .doc, and PDF.  The same thing happens for each.

Hi Jay!

Please be sure that you are viewing your published content as your learner would.

If you view a published Presenter '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.
