Audio disapears when I publish?

Dec 20, 2013

Hi, I'm having a little trouble publishing documents.  I've been using audio editor to add audio to a powerpoint and when I publish it the audio disappears, both on the 'view presentation' page and then in audio editor, I've done it a few times and it will not save the audio when it's published.  On another document the audio cuts off mid-presentation and when I re-do the audio syncing and publish again it reverts back to where it was before I started. Any ideas why this is happening?

Hi Emily and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

First, please try to make sure that you're working with all local project files.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If that doesn't help, can you please tell me what version of Studio ('09 or '13) and Office you're currently using? Also, for either version, you'll want to make sure that you have the 32-bit version of PowerPoint installed.

Thanks!

Hi Emily,

No need to be sorry, it's really a process of elimination to see what may be causing the problem :)  Thank you for getting back to me and confirming.

It may help to run a quick repair on Studio '13:

If you're still experiencing these issues, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

Let me know if you try all of those suggestions and still have trouble with the audio.

Thanks, Emily!
