Hi Luke,

When exactly does this error occur? You mention you're receiving this in the Audio Editor, but that you're also seeing this in Quizmaker and Engage. Are you attempting to add the audio to Engage or Quizmaker when you see this?

First thing I would check is the location and name of the presentation and/or audio files. Try to make sure that you're working on your local hard drive and that the file names (for the presentation and audio) contain no special characters, such as spaces or underscores.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Second, try to be sure you're running the 32-bit version of Office. Microsoft released a 32-bit and a 64-bit version of Office 2010. Microsoft recommends installing the 32-bit version, and Articulate Presenter '09 will only work with the 32-bit version. Presenter '09 also will not work with the Click To Run version of PowerPoint 2010. For more information, please review this article.

If you've checked everything above, and everything looks good, please try following the steps outlined in the article below:

It occurs as soon as I try to do something in audio editor, be it in Presenter, Engage or Quizmaker. As soon as you try to do something and clikc on something in the tools ribon, I get the message.  I am able to import audio however.

I am using  Office 2007 Prof. 32 bit

could the fact that Office 07' is being used be a problem?

Hi Luke,

No, you should be fine with 2007, as long as it's the 32-bit version.

Were you able to take the troubleshooting steps outlined in the article I provided? If so, and you're still seeing this error, we may need to take a closer look at what's happening.

Please go ahead and submit a support case with us:
