Audio ok in Audio Editor but not when previewed and published

Nov 15, 2012

Hi,

I have been recording courses in both Articulate Presenter and Captivate for some time and only recently have had this problem occur.  I've recorded audio in Presenter and it sounds ok when I go into Audio Editor.  But when I try to synch animation, preview the course and even when I publish the course, it sounds tinny and a more garbled.  Has anyone had this happen to them?  Any solutions?

I've read some of the past posts and have played around with volume and also unchecked Optimize Audio Volume before publishing and neither have helped resolve the issue.  Could it be a microphone issue?

Thank you!

Hi Peter. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this trouble with your audio file. I'm not sure which posts you've already read, so forgive me if I post references you've already seen.

Here's a few things we can try to improve the quality of your audio file:

  • First, make sure you're importing audio that's local. Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • Are you using a stereo audio file? If you import a stereo audio file into Presenter '09 and find that the volume level is lower, quieter, or softer than expected, the left and right channels of the audio file may be "out of phase".  A stereo audio file that is out of phase will not play properly when it is imported into Articulate Studio '09.  For more information and solutions, please check out this knowledge base article.
  • Take a look at this article, which covers some general issues with audio.

Let me know how if you still experience issues with the audio file after checking the information above.

Thanks!
