Audio OK in preview, missing in Audio Editor

I broke one slide into two separate slides (let's call them Slide 1 and Slide 2) and edited the audio to match the text on each slide. When I Preview the slide, the audio is correct, i.e., two different audio tracks. However, when I try to Sync Animations or access Audio Editor, the audio track is exactly the same for both slides -- both slides have Slide 1 audio.  There is simply no separate audio track for Slide 2!

Please advise!  I cannot sync animations or edit the Audio on Slide 2 because the audio file is not visible!
