Audio previews/publishes to wrong slides

Apr 12, 2013

I have a 2010 PowerPoint I have been working on in Presenter.  It seems to have worked OK up until yesterday.  Now when I preview or publish, SOME audio clips become associated with other slides.

I went back and looked at changes I made to slides just before the point the issues popped up and cannot identify where the problem is.

This has thrown me for a loop.  I have searched on the forum.  Did find some instructions on audio issues when " names of the shapes that contain special characters".  So I looked for that and didn't find any problems there.

Hi there, Robbi!

First, try to make sure you're working with files on your local hard drive.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Try to make sure there are no underscores or extra spaces in your file names and in the shapes you checked earlier.

If you've confirmed the files are all local and this is still happening, can you tell me what type of audio is misplaced? Is it narration you've recorded in Presenter, or audio files you've inserted? Can you give me an example of one of the audio file names, please?

Thanks!

Christine
