Audio quality question
Jul 16, 2013
I have 2 separate Presenter presentations, both of which contain VO audio. Both presentations are set to publish audio quality at 160 kbps. Both pieces of audio were produced on the same day and edited in the same fashion, both were saved as 160 kbps mp3. However, when I go to publish presentation #1 the quality remains, but in presentation #2 the audio quality is nowhere near the same (sounds extremely lossy in comparison). Am I missing some other setting? I just cannot seem to figure out why 2 files could produce such varying quality.

Hello Seth, the audio and video quality settings are set at Presentation Level.
Are you sure you have set customized settings in each presentation?
Just to give you an example:
I have a presentation opened in powerpoint, and I start working on Articulate presenter features; the .ppta file is created.
Quality settings must be set BEFORE importing audio, otherwise, the standard web settings (i.e. 24Kbps for audio) are used.
I think in the second presentation you modified quality setting right after importing audio, that could be the cause.
When you change quality settings in a presentation, you needn't reimport audio only if you are lowering quality.
Hope it helps.
Both are 160 kbps upon import in Presentation options.
So upon further inspection, the degradation in quality only occurs after a sequence of events.
Seth:
Do you need to go as rich as 160 bitrate (CD quality is 128, and 160 gonna give you a large file)... Ok, it maybe that Presenter isn't holding your custom bitrate setting. I ran into this once (and only once). I add to publish the presentation (and when you publish you get another change to set your bitrate which you want to do) and then import the published audio slides back into my prez and then of course publish the entire thing again.
Anyway, you might give it a try if nothing else works. --Daniel
I am having a similar issue. No matter if I record directly into Articulate or import an MP3, when i publish the presentation, the audio quality is noticebly degraded. How do I alter settings in order to maintain audio quality after publishing?
Hi Terry! Here is support article that should help you understand how to adjust those settings.
Hello... I am still having trouble with terrible audio quality. Could I send someone some files for review? I really appreciate any help on this.
Hi, Terry: I assume the quality of the actual recording isn't at issue.
Couple of things you could do:
1. Submit a case to Articulate.
2. Post a sample file here to see if others can duplicate the problem.
A few years ago, I had an issue where Presenter wasn't holding on to my audio bitrate settings. If you've set the bit rate (Under Quality Settings), maybe that's what happening. Let us know. --Daniel
