Audio Vanished

Oct 04, 2013

I made a course using Presenter last week and imported audio for all the slides, synced animations, and published the presentation. Everything worked just fine and published correctly, but when I went back into the original presentation today to update one of my slides, ALL of the audio is missing. It's as if I never imported any audio at all. I haven't opened the presentation since publishing and I know I saved it, so how did this happen?

I know that it's probably too late for my project and I'll have to re-import all of the audio and re-sync everything now, but has anyone ever run into this before or know how to recover my previous project? This happened to both the version on my desktop and the version I placed on our company's server after publishing. I'd really like to avoid this problem ever happening again, since now I'm going to lose an hour of my day re-syncing this whole project just so I can make a minor update.

Thanks!

Hi, Whitney: That's scary when in happens, but it's happened to many of us. Did you perhaps move or rename any of the files? Here is a post that will help you get the audio back. It's most likely there. http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter-09/audio-is-missing-or-lost-in-published-presenter-09-presentation

I have run into this many many times over the last 7 years using presenter.    Articulate advises to make certain you are not saving to a network drive, thumb drive, other hard drive, etc.

I have had this issue while working directly on my C drive, without knowing the cause.  I would recommend using a backup service (such as crash plan) to backup your files automatically every night.

This has saved me countless times when my audio has been randomly erased.  Crashplan is great.

Thanks Daniel and Tom!

I think the cause, based on that article shared by Daniel, is that my version of Presenter is 2009 and probably an early version. I'll see if I can convince my IT department to update my software and short-term I'll definitely look into crash plan. I've had other issues with things getting messed up while my files sit dormant on my C drive, so that sounds like a good plan just in general.

Thanks so much for the speedy help!! I really appreciate it!
