Background Music during Animation

I have built a short powerpoint presentation with some background music leading into each slide.   Each slide also has animation and will have some narration.    I would like some of the animations (titles, etc ) to appear during the lead-in background music.    I can make that happen in a powerpoint slide show but it does not seem to work in presenter.   It appears that presenter waits for the music file to play all the way through before it does any of the animations.   Is there a way to make the animations occur simultaneously with the music?
