Can't insert or update Flash video

Oct 21, 2015

Hi, everyone.

I am trying to update an existing .swf in my Presenter '13 course. Presenter kept crashing when I tried importing this particular file (all files are locally saved), so I thought upgrading to Studio '13 Update 7 would solve the problem. My course no longer crashes when I click "Insert Flash" from the Articulate tab, but clicking this doesn't do anything--the button depresses but nothing happens. The same is true if I click the "Import Video" button on the Articulate tab. I have Flash Player 19.0.0.226 installed. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Ashley

Hi Ashley,

I'm sorry to hear about the odd behavior with your file and importing the SWF. If the Articulate tab isn't working as expected after installing the update I'd advise going through the steps here.

Also, I'd look at testing that one particular file in a new Presenter course just to confirm if anything else is off with the course or the SWF file. Please keep us posted on how going through these steps go!

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for this information. I went through the steps provided and discovered that the Articulate tab wasn't working properly. I got to the second step and that corrected that issue. However, when I tried to import the .swf into the course file again, Presenter crashed on me. I also tried importing the .swf into a blank presentation with the same results. Are there new standards for .swf files inside Presenter '13, Update 7?

Thanks!
Ashley

Hi Ashley,

I had another user who was having difficulty inserting a Flash file and upon investigating the file it didn't adhere to the Flash best practices here.  These haven't changed recently, did this SWF file work previously for you? I'd look at the steps there to check your file and see if it adheres to our guidelines and requirements and if it does and you're still having difficulty we'll want to take a look at the SWF file ourselves.
