Character bundles keep crashing Studio

Aug 10, 2015

Hello!

I have Studio '13 and have been trying to work on a new project. However, when I open PowerPoint and save the file so that I can work with the character bundles, I get 2 pop-ups when clicking "Articulate>Character>Illustrated." The pop-ups say: "Microsoft Office PowerPoint has stopped working" and "Articulate Presenter Authoring had stopped working."

Has anyone else had this issue or can suggest what I should do? This has happened multiple times now with the entire program automatically closing to give me those pop-ups.

Thank you!

Hi, Zaynah -- So sorry to hear of the issues you have encountered. Can you please confirm that you are working locally? Please also see this information on Unexpected or Erratic Behavior in Articulate Studio '13, as well as How to Repair Articulate Studio '13.

Please let me know if that helps, and you are welcome to attach your file here or a sample so that we can take a look if issues persist.

Hi Christie,

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I am working locally. I will take a look at the links you provided and see if I can find something there, then let you know!

I don't think the file is the issue, so much as the program itself not working properly on any new file I save because I created several new files, and every time the program shut down when I tried to open the characters.

Hi Christie,

I just tried to reinstall as administrator but got a pop-up that says "The installed version of this application could not be determined. The setup will now be terminated."

I don't know if this is because I had to get our IT department to install the program and would have to get them to try it.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi, Zaynah -- This article states the following with respects to that error message:

The Installed Version of the Application Could Not Be Determined

When installing a software update for Articulate Studio '13, you may encounter the following error message:

"The installed version of the application could not be determined. The set up will now terminate."

Here's how to fix it:

  1. Uninstall Studio '13.
  2. Install the latest version of Studio '13.
  3. Reboot your computer.

If the issue persists, please let us know.
